CECÍLIA COCA
Cecília Coca, Barcelona (Spain).
My idea of Odd Garden is that it’s a tribute space to honor the role of nature in human life, not only in the essential biological sense, but also in the symbolic.
Could we ever really live in a city without any plants or trees? We would find it cold, dystopian, dead.
This is why we create spaces like parks and botanical gardens, oases that tap into our most primitive essence and instinct.
The places I photograph have a unique atmosphere, a perfect mix of organic and artificial elements that live together.
But, are the artificial parts also part of this “new” nature? This is a work in progress, as I plan to visit some more gardens in Barcelona, my city.
